"Vyrus" (Single, April 9th, 2020)

Review of '“Vyrus” (Single) by Acaedia

Muffled and distorted visions flash before our eyes. The garbled language veils an all too relevant term, “coronavirus”. prior to the seething vocals of Ray Jimenez crushing your eardrums. A heavy paced, rhythmic mood shuttles you through the verses without hesitation. On reaching the chorus, the clean vocals provide a appreciated respite, yet maintain a grittier texture, unlike “Headstrong” (Single, 2019), for instance. Intentional choice or not, the lyrics still ring true, tackling the global issue at hand:

“…We are the Vyrus,

we are the new disease,

that propagates through hate,

We are the Vyrus,

we are the new disease,

the ones who’ve gone insane…”

-Excerpt from “Vyrus

Fully embracing the nu-metal “vibe” which they have inherently grown into since their 2017 EP, ‘Void’, a listen through their discography quickly informs you that Acaedia is evolving just as fast as, well….Covid-19!

That being said, there is a lot of behind the scenes work in action and we are dying to hear what the latest recordings hold behind JMelo Recording’s closed doors. Keep your eyes open, because if you kick it with this track, there is MUCH more on the way from Acaedia in 2020! - Nic B.
