Review of "Vaeringr" (Single) by Recreated
“….The word “Væringr” refers to a lesser-known chapter in Swedish history: Viking warriors who were appointed as a royal guard by the emperor of Byzantium for over a century. The soldiers earned a reputation in the ancient world for their incorruptible loyalty to the emperor, in an oath beyond life itself that reminds of the samurai. ….” - Recreated
To all of our bloodthirsty, conquest-driven, melodic deathmetal/heavy metal loving readers: the brand new track Væringr by Swedish based act, Recreated, is everything that you have been seeking on your weary musical travels. Released on Friday, June 26th, 2020 via Rexius Records, Væringr is a piece which undoubtedly surpasses anything this group has released to date since their formation. Embedding their tactful and ever present driving guitar work beneath trademark gutturals, Recreated has taken their sound to a cleaner and more precise level as they launch their 2020 release campaign. For current fans of the band, imagine taking the best vocals of ‘Beware of the Dead’ (2016), the ferocious tenacity of musicianship within ‘Decretoria Quasi Compitum’ (2017) , adding one of the catchiest deathmetal choral riffs of 2020, and blending them together. That is Væringr in a nutshell and it is delicious.
“….Rise! Rise! Rise! Rise for victory
Rise for humanity
Strive for eternity
Come march with me
Fight! Fight! Fight through your suffering
Conquer your pain, or everything stays the same….” - Væringr
As every listener’s mind is launched on a warrior’s conquest, Væringr is relevant to most any turmoil or challenge we as humans face today - energizing all who care to hear the call to arms. So come! March with us, as we press on towards the glory of more spectacular music yet to come from Recreated in their 2020 album campaign! Make sure to show them some love and let them know what you think of Væringr as well! - Nic B
