Single Review: "Blossom" by Mayfield
Review of "Blossom" by Mayfield
"Blossom" by Mayfield is the band's most recent single, comes on the heels of their single "Corroding", released in 2017, and their last full EP in 2016. Since Mayfield's formation, listeners have watched a promising internal process of refinement and maturity occur with regards to the overall quality of style and sound in their works. Entering with calming guitar and comforting vocals, "Blossom" exhibits an impressive range of abilities by the group, suddenly pausing and pulling the listener along a lyrically intense journey through the next few minutes.
"Where will you go when you realize that I’m a lost hope?
I know that you know it, you try not to show it
It’s okay, I don’t blame you - I blame myself
My indecisions decide themselves"-Excerpt from "Blossom"
The single as a whole embodies the continued rigor and focus with which the song is crafted and suggests the promising signs of a continued progression as a group. The band has hinted that new music is coming, however at this point we are unsure as to if that is a continuation of "Blossom" with a full length EP, or another single. Either way, we stand by the impressive effort invested in this track from Mayfield and look forward to hearing more of the same in their upcoming future work! (Keep your eyes peeled!)
