“Pushover”

Pushover” by Crashing – Review by Nic Beardsley of Dear Untitled:

…I got something to say to you
but i can't find the words
I got feelings inside of me
but I'm afraid that they'll hurt…

-Excerpt from “Pushover

A strong vocal line quivers over top of the opening drums and limited guitar. Through the first verse the angsty cry by ex-member, Steve Bruno (also of Drain Maria) perpetuates the internal argument lyrically until the full earful of instruments join in, crafting such a beautifully timed punk ruckus. Seeing Crashing in person is as basement show pop punk as one possible might imagine from merely hearing the philly/south jersey tone push through their amps. Sure, most punk rock and pop punk can sound very similar, but Crashing brings their own flare -showcasing at least 3 different vocalists from the act across their latest EP, ‘Hang Tight’ - which could very well explain their latest success since late December 2019.

The decision to film the music video for the track “Pushover” at a house show in Delco, PA simply brings every envisioned picture by listeners of the group into crystal clear clarity. Capturing the lighting energy of the Philly scene in a bottle, the video is once more a great sales pitch for how enlightening live shows, especially ones that Crashing play, can be!

Make sure to go take a listen to their full 2019 EP, ‘Hang Tight’, and check out their previous video for the first track off that EP, “Mikey Mayfair” below! - Nic B
